Julie Hairston applies more than 30 years of successful experience in media and communications to every GigaWord project. She has been honored with more than a dozen state, regional and national awards for reporting and writing. Her signature column for the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, “Private Quarters,” consistently ranked among the most-viewed links on the AJC website for three years and drew an average of 250,000 online readers each week.

A graduate of the Henry W. Grady School of Journalism and Mass Communications at the University of Georgia, she serves on the marketing committee of the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta and the marketing committee of the Atlanta Press Club. Since 2011, she has served as the Communications Director for the Georgia Solar Energy Association and as Secretary on its Board of Directors. She is a member of the National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE), the Public Relations Society of America (PRSA), Southface, the Chattahoochee Riverkeeper and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce.

During her five-year tenure as a senior account executive with A. Brown-Olmstead Associates, Julie managed projects for a variety of clients including: high-tech parking company StreetSmart; water management firm BRAE Rainwater Harvesting Systems; sustainable homebuilder New World Home, and cloud computing provider ClubDrive Systems.
